self catering holiday cottage for up to 4 people in secluded surroundings at the
heart of the English Lake District on Hawkshead Hill, Cumbria.
Hatter's Cottage is an 18th century detached stone cottage in a secluded location
near the centre of the southern Lake District. It is situated 150 metres from
public roads, on a small farm near a hilltop between Coniston and Windermere lakes.
The picturesque village of Hawkshead, 1 mile away, has a small supermarket, a
post office and several pubs serving meals.
One
can walk or cycle in all directions from the cottage door on footpaths, quiet
lanes and forest tracks. Mountain walking, boating, pony trekking and rock climbing
are available nearby. The central location makes the cottage a good base for touring
the Lake District.
Hatters
Cottage is beside a small stream, surrounded by gardens, fields, orchard and woodland,
with mountain views. It is the only holiday property on the farm, and is run by
the owners. It is fully renovated with gas central heating and double glazing
throughout.

Ground
Floor: Cosy living room with beams, stone hearth, TV and DVD player.
Kitchen with refrigerator, full-size gas cooker & microwave. Dining room with
oak table and dresser; view of stream, fields and woodland.



First
Floor: Two bedrooms with views of fields and
mountains Bedroom one with 5-foot double bed Bedroom two with twin beds Shower
room with WC & washbasin Bedroom 1 is a 1 double bedroom and Bedroom 2 has 2 single
beds with an en-suite washroom. A sofa bed is also provided which can accomodate
an extra 2 people. There is also a separate bathroom.

Garden:
The cottage's front door opens onto the peaceful leafy private garden. The
patio beside the front door faces south making it a good place for a barbecue
or to take off your boots and relax in the sunshine.

Duvets, blankets and pillows provided Bed linen can be hired or you can bring
your own Gas central heating - payment by meter reading Private parking and bicycle

Steam Yacht
Gondola
on Coniston Water is the oldest steam yacht in the North of England was built
in 1859 by the Furness Railway Company and is now maintained and run by National
Trust volunteers
Historic
Sizergh Castle and Gardens Situated around four miles south of the town of
Kendal, it is now owned by the National Trust, although a member of the Strickland
family, who have been in possession of the house since 1239, still occupies their
ancestral home.
